In a recent interview with Region, REIACT CEO Maria Edwards welcomed proposed legislative changes that would reduce unintended financial consequences on ACT landlords when replacing gas appliances as part of the Territory’s electrification targets. She said removing a tenant’s ability to seek a rent reduction simply because an amenity had been replaced with an electric alternative was a fair approach, while noting that greater clarity may be needed around what constitutes a “reasonable” replacement.
