Yesterday, REIACT CEO Maria Edwards appeared before the Standing Committee on Environment and Planning for the Inquiry into DPA-04 Missing Middle Housing Reforms

On behalf of REIACT, Ms Edwards made the following recommendations to the committee:

✅ Deliver the kinds of homes people actually want and need - not just supply for supply sake
✅ Produce a clear and consistent Design Guide and provide practical tools to help both practitioners and the community
✅ Close monitoring of valuation outcomes and a willingness to consider transitional or moderating land tax and rates tax adjustments
✅ Ensure engagement with ACT agents and property managers and provide clear transitional provisions, training and user‑friendly tools to reduce the risk of misrepresenting redevelopment potential and support informed decisions
